Job Description:

  • Follow the prep list created by the Executive Chef
  • Organize and place all ingredients on to shelves and other kitchen equipment to ensure easy access when required
  • Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
  • Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.
  • Undertake basic cooking duties as instructed by the Executive Chef
  • Prepare simple dishes such as salads, hors d’oeuvres, entrée, and “Late-Night” menus
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by sanitizing surfaces and placing dirty wares in queue at the designated wash stations
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Ensure that prepared food product is being released for dining service in accordance to the most updated time schedule received from the Executive Chef and/or Shift Supervisor
  • Take the lead on buffet and plating line prep by placing condiments and food items into chaffers and surrounding warming equipment
  • Ensure that food temperatures are compliant to food safety guidelines before and during dining service
  • Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and nutrition guidelines
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of equipment and wares from company vehicles from home base and on location
  • Conduct standard kitchen shut down procedures to ensure safety
  • Help your teammates resolve on-the-job challenges if able
  • Comply to Custom Catering’s standard processes and procedures
  • Communicate to Executive Chef about inventory shortages (ingredients etc.)
  • Support other tasks as required


College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years or equivalent experience.

Food Safety Certificate

Certificates or Licenses Required:

Valid Driver’s License, Own Transportation
