Canada-Ontario Job Grant

Ontario's workforce is our most valuable asset. As the economic environment evolves, so do the skills needs of employers. Experience shows that employer involvement in training improves business performance.

On March 28, 2014, Ontario signed the Canada-Ontario Job Fund Agreement with the federal government. The agreement is a key source of funding for new initiatives to help Ontario's employers develop their workforce through employer-led training.

The Career Centre is pleased to administer the Canada-Ontario Job Grant (The Job Grant).

The Job Grant provides an opportunity for employers to invest in their workforce through training, and with financial support from the provincial and federal government. Employers choose the individuals to be trained and the training that meets their needs.

The Job Grant is available to small and large employers with a plan to deliver training to existing and new employees, and will:

  • Provide up to $10,000 in government support per person to train existing employees and up to $15,000 to train new hires
  • Fund additional costs such as training, materials and transportation.
  • Require employers to contribute to the total costs of the training
    • Small Employers (1 - 99 Employees) will contribute one-sixth of the total costs
    • Large Employers (100 + Employees) will contribute one-half of the total costs
  • Require training to be delivered by an eligible, third-party trainer.
