310 T Mechanic/Apprentice – JD

We are looking for an apprentice whether in 1st year or 4th year to join our team. AOR will assist in paying for the rest of your apprenticeship program to get you up and running!
Responsibilities:
- Assist in service work for all fleet and internal equipment
- Complete repairs needed efficiently and in a timely manner
- Detect and diagnose problems (i.e., engines, transmissions, brakes, ignition etc.)
- Conduct repairs as per OEM manuals as well as OEM standards
- Ensure that appropriate tools, parts are within reach to complete tasks to be performed.
- Work in a safe manner and report any tool damages or safety concerns to your supervisor
- Able to communicate effectively with co-workers and customers if needed
- Able to read and interpret owner/operator/manufacturer operating manuals and service specifications as well as work orders
- Ensure that all training and skills are updated in order to maintain license
- Comply with requirements outlined in the OHSA, WHMIS, company handbook/policies
Qualifications
- Must have a 310 T license or in the 310 T apprentice program (1st year up to 4th year)
- Current, valid driver’s license.
- Needs both basic and special tools to properly diagnose and service our fleet and yard equipment
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Must be comfortable using computers
- Must be comfortable standing and walking throughout the full shift
- Comfortable working in outdoor conditions when required
- Ability to work independently and under direction
- Must be well organized and able to work with minimal supervision
- Positive team player able to work as a team or individually
Service Department Proficiency
- Occasionally assist other technicians when they are having difficulty performing service work.
- Maintain vehicle records and repair data in the fleet management software program.
- Notify Lead Hand / Garage Administrator / Manager of additional work needed or any delays in expected completion as soon as they become known so that Dispatch or Road Crew may be contacted and notified of the delay.
Physical Demands
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Requires the use of both hands.
- Frequently required to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, handle tools, and lifting of material
Working Conditions
- Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
- Is potentially exposed to battery acid, diesel fuel, gasoline, chemical cleaning materials or other toxic materials commonly found in a motor vehicle service department.
- Occasionally, exposed to exhaust fumes or other airborne particles.
