Education Coordinator

Duration: 4-12 month internship, extension possible
Salary: $18/hour (as per funding)
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Deliver on-site, outreach and virtual programs as scheduled. Learn the subject material related to the educational programs regarding reptiles, amphibians, and nature in general
- Present to a wide variety of group sizes and variable levels of understanding
- Set up educational displays at suitable venues and participate in delivering these events, preparing and cleaning materials
- Communicate with clients and venues regarding programming options, costs, and requirements
- Schedule events and record relevant details
- Allocate staff and resources as best fits the event schedule, taking into account other organizational needs
- Assist with training and supervision of education and day camp staff
- Assist with the development of day camp programming and practices
- Create interpretive signage, promotional posters, and similar products
- Create social media posts and interact with followers
- Create new nature-based programming
- Assist with the care and feeding of a large live collection of reptiles and amphibians (approximately 450 individuals of 70+ species)
- Assist with other operational and maintenance tasks as required
Requirements:
- Strong oral communication and writing skills
- Comfortable and charismatic, on stage and on camera
- Passion for working with children and nature
- Positive attitude and willingness to help people get over their fears are essential
- Superb organizational skills, experience with spreadsheets and calendars in Windows and Android
- Flexible scheduling as client and animal needs affect plans, weekends and evenings required
- Experience presenting to audiences of 50-100 people an asset
- Working knowledge of the French language an asset
- Experience with digital photography, videography, editing, social media platforms, etc. an asset
- Experience scheduling, training, and managing staff or volunteers is an asset
Accommodations (shared) may be available on-site (quad or double bunk room). Candidates should enjoy working both indoors and outdoors, in a variety of settings. The ability to thrive as part of a close-knit team in challenging situations and a live/work environment is important.
