A client of IS2 Workforce Solutions is hiring an experienced Team Lead to support daily production operations in a manufacturing environment in Barrie. This is a full-time, on-site role ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced setting and enjoys coordinating workflow, managing priorities, and mentoring team members.
The Team Lead plays a key role in job scheduling, inventory awareness, and team leadership to ensure customer orders are completed efficiently, accurately, and on time.
What You’ll Be Doing
Production Scheduling & Workflow Coordination
- Review open orders daily and prioritize based on shipping deadlines and customer commitments
- Verify parts availability before starting jobs and flag shortages
- Coordinate with purchasing to confirm arrival dates for missing components
- Assign jobs based on team member skills and current workloads
- Adjust schedules as needed to minimize downtime and maintain productivity
Inventory Awareness
- Ensure required parts are available before work begins
- Monitor inventory usage and support picking and ordering processes
- Proactively communicate delays or risks impacting production
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Assign daily tasks and monitor progress throughout the shift
- Balance workloads to support multitasking without bottlenecks
- Provide coaching, guidance, and mentorship to team members
- Address questions, concerns, and issues promptly and respectfully
Daily Operations
- Complete opening procedures, including start-of-day equipment checks
- Maintain accurate schedules, priority lists, and production updates
- Complete end-of-day closing procedures and handoff notes
- Support housekeeping, maintenance, and continuous improvement tasks
Training & Development
- Support onboarding and training of team members
- Follow a structured supervisory development and mentoring approach
- Participate in weekly progress reviews with management
- Document training progress and provide constructive feedback
Communication & Coordination
- Keep the team informed of changing priorities, delays, or order updates
- Maintain regular communication with purchasing and leadership
- Encourage open communication and proactive problem-solving
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production leadership role
- Strong organizational and job scheduling skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Clear, respectful communication style with a coaching mindset
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Experience with inventory management and production workflows is an asset
