Position of Administrative Assistant (AA) Maternity Leave reporting to General Manager (GM)
Year 2023 (February 24, 2023)
The Administrative Assistant works under the direction of the General Manager and is
responsible for performing an array of office and communications duties to ensure the daily operation
of the EDAS. Event support periodically becomes a part of weekly tasks; the AA position will need to be
adaptable to meet the ongoing challenges facing the EDAS. Ultimately, all EDAS staff report to and work
for the Board of Directors, this means that occasional projects or tasks may be requested by the Board.
Job description
Covering a maternity leave opening as a Full-time seasonal position (April to November); Part-time
winter support (November to April), based on demand, projects and availability
Responsibilities:
· Daily management of EDAS email accounts
· Answer incoming telephone calls and messages left with the EDAS office, including in person arrivals
· Maintain and update the EDAS website and social media accounts
· Coordination of seasonal horse schooling program
· Assist in maintaining daily cash transactions and debit/credit payments
· Support in operating summer/winter facility storage programs
· Maintenance of EDAS membership program
· Event support and exhibitor coordinator (Barrie Fair, Draft Horse Exhibition, etc)
· Maintenance and operation of online registration systems (Assist Expo, etc) This includes prize book
support for committee chairs, entry setup, and troubleshooting with members
· Ability to take on new tasks or projects as directed by the GM or Board of Directors
Additional Skills of Interest(preferred):
· Creation of graphic design artwork and media; directly involved in marketing projects
· Agricultural experience or knowledge
· Non-profit or charity experience, whether as a participant or volunteer
· Active in the local community
Salary: Beginning at $18.00 – $20.00/Hour based on experience. Ensuring compensation remains
competitive and equitable for the work performed and responsibilities taken on. 30 minutes of unpaid
lunchtime will be adjust for workdays exceeding 5 hours.
Vacation: The AA will be provided 2 (two) weeks of vacation per year, to be scheduled in advance and
not in conflict with the Barrie Fair or other major duties. Vacation pay is calculated following provincial
guidelines and paid out when time is taken. The AA may request additional unpaid time off for attending
agricultural themed events or personal reasons during the operating season – examples may include
Youth Agricultural Programs, Local Fairs, The Royal Agricultural Fair, or Agribition.
