Hospitality Leader – summer & fall/winter positions

Location: Scales Nature Park

Duration: Varies with position, minimum 8 weeks with extension up to one year internship possible

Salary: Varies depending on the position and funding. At or slightly above minimum wage.

Duties will include:

• Meet new Canadian and international volunteers, schedule arrivals/pick ups, provide orientation tours, and assign accommodations; track accommodation assignments across multiple locations ensure check-in/check-out procedures are followed, assist with on-boarding including basic training, completion of forms, etc.
• Plan and supervise the preparation of nutritious lunches and dinners for 20-40 people daily, incorporating food allergies, sensitivities and dietary preferences, with a rotating team of volunteers assisting daily
• Follow safe food handling procedures and encourage best practices; prioritize and make efficient use of donated food and supplies
• Maintain a positive, can-do attitude, and communicate effectively in English or French with volunteers who may have other first languages- especially German and Spanish
• Create team building activities to encourage a cohesive and support work environment

Requirements:

• Strong organizational and communication skills required
• Attention to detail, multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment and calm problem solving skills required
• Familiarity with MSOffice and/or Google suite software required
• Valid G or GS driver’s license and good driving record required
• Flexibility regarding scheduling is important

Accommodations (shared) may be available on-site (quad or double bunk room). Candidates should enjoy working both indoors and outdoors, in a variety of settings. The ability to thrive as part of a close-knit team in challenging situations and a live/work environment is important.
