House Cleaner

JOB PURPOSE

As a House Cleaner, you are responsible for ensuring and obtaining the highest level of cleanliness around the environments of residential and vacation homes, such as bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and all public areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensuring that houses are cleaned to a very high standard with the use of various environmentally friendly products, disinfectants and machines
  • Dusting, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and sanitizing all relevant surfaces
  • Washing floors, toilets, showers, tubs, windows, and counters
  • Vacuuming carpets, upholstery, and any other dusty surface
  • Folding clean laundry, making beds and fluffing pillows
  • Handling all furniture and appliances carefully and replenishing amenities that are needed in rooms as required
  • Cleaning dishes and carefully arranging them in their appropriate position
  • Communicating and maintaining a healthy relationship with homeowners in order to provide excellent service
  • Managing a variety of cleaning products; ensuring products are stocked, labels are present and notifying management or the home owner of low supplies
  • Identifying and reporting any maintenance issues or defective equipment
  • Performing other position related duties as required

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of proven work experience as a house cleaner or within the hospitality industry
  • Sound knowledge and awareness of health and safety requirements, policies, and procedures
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of environmentally-friendly cleaning supplies and chemicals
  • The ability to effectively work independently and maintain correct, up-to-date, and accurate records
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Punctual, reliable and trustworthy
  • Able to perform all cleaning tasks quickly, effectively, and efficiently
  • Pet friendly; able to work well around household pets (dogs, cats)

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand, sit, and stoop for long periods of time while cleaning
  • Most work is conducted indoors but may require the odd outdoor task such as clearing a deck or walkway by sweeping
  • Working with environmentally friendly cleaning products, clean and soiled items
  • Be able to withstand repetitive movements of their hands and arms
  • Valid G class drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle is required to travel to clients’ homes

COMPENSATION & HOURS

  • Permanent Role
  • 25-35 hours a week
  • Monday to Friday (minimal weekends required)
  • $22.50/hour with opportunities to scale
