The Opportunity
As a Landscape Architect at Majestic Pools, you will be enthusiastic, creative, and customer oriented. You will have an eye for design and a love for creating unique outdoor structures that complement the homeowner’s existing property and future vision. We aim to create spaces that are functional and beautiful with no two structures exactly alike.

You will be required to interact with customers, inspectors, and members of the planning and building departments from the local municipalities: professionalism is key. You may be required to speak on behalf of Majestic Pools during municipal committee meetings when minor variances are required.

You will have a love for learning. We strive to keep up with new product offerings and trends and be knowledgeable about these products to help the customer make informed decisions.

You will be required to produce construction drawings for permitting, construction, and for the customer. You will have a solid foundation of knowledge with respect to municipal by-laws, the Ontario Building Code, and Conservation Authority requirements.

Finally, in every aspect of your job, you will work safely and ensure that others are working safely around you. Your job will require you to visit construction sites on a regular basis where you will encounter heavy machinery, uneven surfaces, and cutting tools. You must be prepared with the proper PPE and understanding of the hazards.

 

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities
As a Team:

·       Collaborate with team members and clients on a daily basis to understand each project’s needs and goals

·       Work with the Landscape Designer to ensure deadlines are being met for projects

·       Visit project sites on a regular basis to inspect project progress and discuss issues with the Landscape Team

As an Individual:

·       Design and produce structural drawings for unique and complex buildings like pool houses, cabanas, outdoor kitchens, and other outdoor living spaces

·       Design and produce structural drawings for unique and complex buildings like pool houses, cabanas, and outdoor living spaces for clients and permitting using AutoCAD or similar program of choice

·       Design and produce landscape construction drawings, including hardscape and softscape elements

·       Cost out projects for customer budgeting purposes and assist customer in choosing specific materials for their structures

·       Research and comply with local by-law requirements for accessory structures

·       Conduct site visits when necessary to complete site assessments

·       Represent Majestic Pools at Committee of Adjustments meetings when necessary

·       Provide supporting documentation to municipal staff when requested

·       The above Team tasks may sometimes be completed individually

Working Conditions:

·       Work from home or office for drafting work

·       Will be required to visit customer homes and properties throughout the year

·       Working in residential environments and communicating face-to-face with suppliers; imperative that you are polite and friendly

Qualifications
Education

·       Must have a degree in Architecture and have current licensed membership in the Ontario Association of Architects or Ontario Association of Landscape Architects OR possess a BCIN

Experience

·       1-3 years experience preferred

·       Knowledge of Barrie, Simcoe County, and surrounding areas an asset

Knowledge / Skill / Ability

·       Proficient in AutoCAD or equivalent drafting program

·       Knowledge of SketchUP or other 3D drafting program is an asset

·       Knowledge of local by-law requirements or ability to obtain necessary information quickly

·       Knowledge of landscape construction methods including but not limited to soils and growing mediums, carpentry, small retaining walls, landscape structures such as pool houses, cabanas, outdoor kitchens and living spaces, pergolas, etc.

·       Knowledge of Microsoft office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Sharepoint)

·       Excellent communication skills to relay information from clients, municipal authorities, and other employees

·       Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

·       Well-developed time management skills and ability to work independently

Conditions of Employment

·       Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License with clean driving record

·       Employee must be able to reliably get to and from work and between job sites

·       Must be able to legally work in Canada

Other Important Information
Location: Barrie and Simcoe County with some travel outside of these regions

Hours: 40 hours / week
