Needle Loom Operator – Shift work
Date Posted: April 21st, 2022 Date Closing: May 13th, 2022Under the supervision of the Plant Manager, the position performs a variety of needle
loom functions. These major duties include but are not limited to; transporting raw
materials throughout the warehouse, setting up looms or other processing machines,
reading operating instructions and preparing loom pattern mechanisms, operating looms
to needle punch fiber into textile fabrics or products, repairing minor mechanical
problems such as broken or defective needles and completing major cleans on the
machinery. The remaining points are inserted under the duties and responsibilities
section.
Candidate must be comfortable with shift work. This will consist of 4 weeks on day shifts
and 4 weeks on nights.
Qualifications:
Education Essential:
➢ Completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma (or equivalent if studied from a
different Country or Province)
Knowledge Essential:
➢ 0-3 months experience in a related field
Skills and Abilities Essential:
➢ Ability to work independently as well as cohesively with employees and
managers as part of a team
➢ Problem solving skills in order to resolve conflicts and problems
➢ Accuracy skills required when programming needle boards
➢ Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure with simultaneous
deadlines
➢ Health and Safety aware to minimize risk of injury from equipment
Special Qualifications:
➢ Forklift Training
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Retrieves and transports raw materials required to produce correct products by
operating the forklift and using other powered equipment and lifting devices
2. Places raw materials into the feedbox
3. Sets up the needle line machines and blends fiber according to instructions
4. Feeds needle loom machines and blend fiber according to instructions
5. Adjusts machine performance on material by observing machine operation;
detecting malfunctions; adjusting settings
6. Observes process and continuously checks fabrics or products for defects and
verifies quality and efficiency requirements
7. Investigates and troubleshoots equipment stoppages and notifies the team
leader if there are any assembly, safety or quality issues
8. Notifies team leader or maintenance of mechanical malfunctions
9. Transports and stores finished products and packaging materials throughout the
plant by operating the forklift and using other powered equipment and lifting
devices
10.Records all production information on the production and quality reports
11.Performs basic maintenance, repair and cleaning duties of the equipment to
include; cleaning fiber from pulleys, belts, chains and boards, using air hoses to
blow fiber from under machinery, replacing side panels and screwing bolts
12.Ensure a safe environment at all times
13.Maintains complete knowledge of and complies with company and departmental
policies, procedures and standards
14.Maintains client and company confidence by keeping information confidential and
secure
15.Maintains a positive working relationship with team members and management
in a team environment
16.Sets-up and organizes individual work area with designated supplies, forms and
resource materials while maintaining cleanliness at all time
