Home And Business Management Services Inc. is a third-party management provider to self storage facilities in Ontario, Canada.

We are searching for a self-motivated, energetic individual with a positive attitude and flexible schedule to fill a part-time (7-hrs a week) self storage customer service representative position, required to be onsite, located in Barrie, Ontario, and surrounding area.

The individual must be available Saturdays as this position has a set 9:30am-4:30pm Saturday schedule. There are possibilities for extra hours with sick and holiday coverage Monday through Friday.

As a self storage customer service representative, one of your main roles will be to work with our clients to find the absolute best storage solutions for their needs. This could include finding the perfect sized unit or providing information on how to properly pack and store items. You would also work with our existing clients to ensure that their storage experience is a positive and memorable one, all while processing payments, selling moving supplies and managing our rental vehicles. Our goal is to provide a safe, secure, and easy storage solution for their important possessions.

The successful applicant must be customer service focused, hard working, honest, trustworthy, enthusiastic, energetic, have an initiative-taking personality, have a fine attention to detail while multitasking, can work in a team or alone, is comfortable talking to people in person, over the phone and by email. Holds a valid Ontario Class G drivers’ license. They must be comfortable navigating a computer and experience with computer programs such as word, office, excel and web-based software are welcomed. As a self storage customer service representative your day will consist of taking customer information and inputting it into our web-based software while doing the move in process, selling merchandise, and upkeeping the facility to our high standards of aesthetics and cleanliness.

Required duties and tasks include, but are not limited to:

Providing exceptional customer service

Receiving and processing payments

Showing potential customers self storage units

Renting self storage units

Making/receiving phone calls

Check-out and check-in of rental vehicles

Selling merchandise (sell moving and packing supplies)

Responding to inquiries via emails and online

Maintaining a clean office and facility (washing, sweeping/mopping, dusting, light snow removal, lawn maintenance, etc.)

Performing a facility and locker inspection

Ensuring all rentable storage units are clean and ready to show to potential clients.

Opening and closing the facility (balancing of daily sales report)

Stocking merchandise area

Paper filing

Data entry

Assisting the facility manager with operations.

Other duties as assigned.

Job Type:

  • Hourly salary: from $18.00 per hour
  • Part-time hours: 7 per week
  • 9-month probationary period

  • Possess valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and insurable.
  • Ability to provide drivers abstract.
  • Ability to provide criminal record check.
  • Ability to legally work in Canada.
  • Ability to fluently communicate in English.
  • Ability to walk the facility and premises.
  • Ability to lift 35Lbs.
  • Basic mathematics
