SPRING-SUMMER/OUTDOOR PESTICIDE TECHNICIAN

THE SPIDERMEN, Barrie, Ontario.
$24.00/hour, based on 40-50 hours per week. If you already have a valid Ontario Exterminator’s License employment wage would be $28.00/hour, based on 40-50 hours per week.
Seasonal full time employment from May 2/2022 to July 29/2022. We would be interested in hiring an individual for multiple years of seasonal employment in 2022, 2023 & 2024.
JOB OVERVIEW:
The Spidermen are interested in hiring a multi year, seasonal team member to work outdoors along the residential shoreline of Barrie and South Lake Simcoe. Completing exterior pesticide applications of client residences to control Spider populations on our client’s properties. We will provide complete hands on training of pesticide use, safety, mixing, application use and equipment maintenance with direct, daily service manager supervision in the field. Combined with our team assisting you to study and obtain your accredited PIC Pesticide Technician Certification.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily independent use of company vehicle to drive to each client location.
Morning start up and end of day site check in with Barrie service manager.
Daily service, cleaning and maintenance of your truck & pesticide application equipment.
Apply pesticides to client properties according to label instructions, safety procedures and company application procedures.
Individual must maintain excellent customer service, combined with both written and verbal communication skills to ensure clients and team members are all well informed. Must have a tremendous positive attitude with keen attention to detail to interact with our client’s and maintain beneficial Spider control services of their properties. Time management and organizational skills, including punctuality for on time attendance are absolutely essential.
Your ability to read & interpret instructions both written and verbal on a daily basis is crucial, ensuring you have strong verbal & written communication skills. Candidate must be extremely responsible with integrity, combined with ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion for our clients.
April/2022 you will receive practical hands on training from our company team members. Followed by you completing practical hands on testing and multiple choice exam test to achieve 75% passing mark. Successful candidate will then be recognized as a Pesticide Industry Council’s certified “Pesticide Technician”.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Require valid Ontario G class drivers license.
High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent.
Valid provincial pesticide applicator license would be valuable towards increased hourly wage.
Any previous lawn care applicator – spraying experience would be an asset.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
Daily work schedule involves early start of approx. 7am to 5pm five days per week. May 2nd through to July 29th.
You are subject to outdoor weather conditions which may include extreme afternoon heat periodically through the summer months.
Exterior Spider treatments of our client properties involves pulling around 300 ft of 3/8” treating hose to reach all treatment areas. NOTE: All trucks have automatic rewind hose reels to retrieve treatment hose with the push of a button.
All 2 story spider treatment areas are completed using a light weight, 12 ft aluminum extension treatment pole. Holding the 3.2 lb extension pole above your chest to treat all upper 2 storey treatment areas is absolutely necessary.
Periodically we encounter a section of a client property that cannot be sprayed properly from the ground using the 12 ft aluminum extension treatment pole. And you would be required to use the 18 ft aluminum extension ladder on your service truck to effectively reach and spray these unique service areas.
