Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic

- Own Tools/Equipment – Tools, Steel-toed safety boots
- Transportation/Travel Information -Willing to travel, Willing to travel for extended periods, Valid driver’s licence

- Additional Skills -Welding experience, Perform repair work on heavy trucks
- Diesel Engine Repair Specialization -Fuel injection system, Exhaust system, Cooling system, Lubrication system, Engine control system, Major internal engine repairs or overhaul, Installation and alignment of engines and machinery
- Mechanical Maintenance and Repair Specialization -Mechanical transmissions, Drive trains and final drives, Hydraulic transmissions, Power take-offs, Tracked vehicle suspensions and steering, Wheel-mounted vehicle suspension and steering, Differentials, Brake system
- Specific Skills -Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required, Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications, Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work, Service attachments and working tools, Verify and repair emission control systems
- Weight Handling – Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
Certificates or Licenses Required: 3rd Period Apprentice, Driver’s License (Class 3 or D), Truck and Coach Service Licence (310T), Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate, Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician Red Seal Endorsement
Terms of Employment: Full Time
Hours per Week: 40-60
Hourly Wage: $28-34 Depending on experience
