Invitation to Employers – Reimagining Workplaces Through Disability Inclusion

Date Posted: August 28th, 2026 Date Closing: September 19th, 2026

Lunch & Learn: Reimagining Workplaces Through Disability Inclusion

We invite you to join us for this exciting event. It’s a great opportunity to connect with other businesses in the Barrie area and learn how local community partners can support your hiring and workforce development needs.

Discover how disability inclusion strengthens recruitment, retention, innovation, and business growth at this leadership summit.

On Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026, from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM join the Ontario Corporate Training Centre (OCTC), Empower Simcoe, The Barrie Chamber of Commerce and the Barrie Career Centre at Traditions Banquet Hall at the Sheba Shrine (142 John Street, Barrie) for the “Reimagining Workplaces Through Disability Inclusion” designed for executive leaders, business owners and operators. This is an opportunity to connect with local business champions and business leaders to learn from disability inclusion experts to support your recruiting efforts and business growth.

Invest Barrie predicts there will be over 150,000 jobs in the Barrie region by 2051. That is 150,000 open positions competing for the best candidates to grow and sustain local businesses.

This event offers valuable insights to help expand your business’s candidate pool by embracing disability inclusion as part of your recruitment and hiring strategies. Being disability inclusive will ensure you have access to the broadest selection of talent, including candidates who have a disability.

Research shows that inclusive, companies are eight times stronger at innovation, customer service and employee retention (Deloitte, 2019). Additionally, businesses who are intentional about disability inclusive hiring experience 72% increase in productivity (Accenture, 2018).

Attendees will receive information on:

  • Facts about disability in Canada
  • Myths and misconceptions that create biases and barriers
  • Case studies that reflect the reality of inclusion in the workplace
  • Strategies to foster a culture of inclusion across your organization
  • The Ontario Corporate Training Centre (OCTC) project and how we can support you in your disability inclusion journey

Now more than ever, disability inclusion is a strategic advantage for businesses.

This event is for business leaders and owners within the healthcare, manufacturing, skilled trades, or hospitality sectors.

A plated lunch will be provided. Any dietary restrictions should be noted when you register before September 15, 2026.

If you require any accommodation(s) to participate in this event, please e-mail info@ontariotrainingcentre.com at least one week prior to the event. Every effort will be made to fulfill accommodation requests.
