Location: On-site, Huronia Rd., Barrie, ON
Hours: 45–50 hours per week
Schedule: Monday–Friday, off weekends and statutory holidays
Environment: Small team, construction / heavy equipment setting
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Sales Representative to join our team in a busy landscaping and construction materials yard. This role is best suited for someone with prior experience in contracting, landscaping, or hardscape supply, who understands interlock, aggregates, and how projects run in the real world.
This is a hands-on sales role in a dusty, loud, fast-paced environment, supporting contractors who are often time-pressed and working to deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Customer Support
- Serve contractors and customers in the yard, at the counter, by phone, and via email
- Prepare accurate quotes and estimates for landscaping and construction projects
- Assist customers with calculations (interlock, base, sand, aggregates, waste factors)
- Guide customers toward in-stock products whenever possible
- Follow up on quotes and work to convert estimates into confirmed orders
- Upsell and cross-sell related products (base materials, edging, polymeric sand, sealers, delivery, etc.)
- Manage repeat contractor accounts and maintain long-term customer relationships
- Handle price-sensitive, time-pressed customers professionally and calmly
Operations & Yard Coordination
- Work closely with yard staff and drivers to ensure accurate order fulfillment
- Understand and account for:
- Truck capacities and weight limits
- Skid counts and packaging
- Delivery and pickup logistics
- Help prevent misloads, shortages, and incorrect product selection
- Translate sketches, drawings, or verbal job descriptions into material requirements
- Assist with purchasing coordination and inventory awareness as required
Payments, Records & Administration
- Process payments on occasion, including use of a Chase PIN pad
- Maintain accurate customer records, pricing, and documentation
- Perform light bookkeeping tasks (filing, maintaining customer accounts and records)
- Assist with light dispatching and scheduling when needed
- Ensure clean paperwork and audit trails — accuracy is critical
Professionalism & Accountability
- Maintain a calm, professional demeanor in a busy yard environment
- Ability to prioritize tasks when phones, customers, and drivers are all active
- Own and help resolve errors or issues when they occur
- Respect confidentiality around pricing, credit accounts, and customer information
- Follow all safety policies and procedures consistently
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven sales experience, preferably in:
- Landscaping
- Construction
- Hardscape or building materials supply
- Strong knowledge of interlock products and aggregates (essential)
- Comfortable working in a dusty, loud, outdoor yard environment
- Strong computer skills:
- Microsoft Office
- QuickBooks and QuickBooks Time
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask and perform well under pressure
Assets (Highly Valued)
- Existing contractor customer base
- Experience working in a materials or heavy machinery yard
- Ability to operate a loader
- Understanding of trucking logistics and material weights
- Dispatching experience
- Bookkeeping or accounting support experience
Work Environment & Schedule

Compensation
- Salary dependent on experience
